Cerrudo Services provided the replacement of wood siding and trim, windows and patio doors at 46 residential housing units at the Coast Guard’s Humboldt Bay complex in Eureka, CA.
The housing repair began in mid-November with a completion date scheduled for the middle of the following July. To mitigate the weather conditions during the winter months, an approach was employed that consisted of enclosed exterior scaffolding at all areas where work would be performed to the building structures themselves, multiple tented shop areas for cutting and fitting, and an on-demand delivery system where both pre-manufactured and site-prepared materials would be transported to the exact location needed and at the time required for installation.
Since the majority of the structures were occupied, safety steps were exercised during every step of the operation. Removal and replacement of the windows and sliding-glass doors were chief among concerns for the occupants since the homes would be susceptible to the elements during replacement efforts. A systematic approach was developed to this activity that reduced the time each opening was exposed.
