Cerrudo Services served as prime contractor to dredge approximately 160, 000 cubic yards of sediment for the Bel Marin Keys Service District who represents a water side development on Novato Creek in Novato, California. Cerrudo Services provided a hydraulic cutter head dredge to remove and pump the dredged material to the Hamilton Wetlands Restoration site three miles away. Dredged material was pumped through a 14″ HDPE pipe and deposited at the upland restoration site that was prepared under separate contract.
The primary challenge of this project was the distance that the material was pumped to reach the deposit area and the close working proximity to private property. The distance of pumping was resolved by utilizing a dredge barge with self pumping capacity that eliminated booster pumps. The working proximity of private property issue was resolved by close leashed project management and quality control protocol.
